Rogaine Review

This is an article about the hair loss treatment Rogaine, its features and the benefits that it provides to a user of this particular form of treatment.

Rogaine, or Regaine, as it is known in some places, comes in the form of a foam or liquid that is applied to the scalp or balding area daily. Its active ingredient increases bloodflow to the hair follicle cells in the area in which it is applied, thereby promoting hair growth. It has two different variants, one for use by men and the other by women.

Because Rogaine comes in the form of a solution or foam that is applied to the balding area, it is fairly convenient to use and does not require too much. While it does not provide the same degree of convenience as hair loss treatment pills or tablets, it is not as messy or time consuming as gels or creams that have to applied and rubbed into balding areas.

Rogaine has been shown to be effective for slowing loss or regrowing many types of hair, not just head hair. Rogaine can be used to slow the loss of hair in areas such as the eyebrows, where a variant of the Rogaine formula can be used.

Because Rogaine simply by increasing the diameter of blood vessels leading to hair follicle cells, thereby increasing the flow of blood and nutrients to those cells, it is relatively safe. It does not interfere with any of the other internal processes of the body and is thus unlikely to produce side effects or complications.

Rogaine is also one of only two hair loss treatments available today that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the treatment of male pattern baldness and other hair loss problems in men.

Side effects associated with the use of Rogaine are minimal and are generally only present when patients overuse the drug. By simply avoiding applying too much Rogaine with each use or not applying it too many times each day, the majority of side effects can be easily avoided.

The strength of Rogaine lies in retention of hair, and retardation of hair loss. It is not very effective at regrowing hair, however, as it does nothing to regenerate hair follicles that are no longer producing hair.

Rogaine is a non-prescription drug, and is easily available over-the-counter at most pharmacies. Unlike the other drug that has been approved by the FDA for treatment of hair loss, obtaining Rogaine does not involve long and embarassing visits to the doctor.

Conclusion

Although Rogaine possesses less benefits than some of the other hair loss treatments that are commercially available, certification by the US FDA means that customers can rest assured that they will experience results with the use of Rogaine. Because Rogaine is most effective at slowing hair loss but not at regrowing hair, it is best used in conjunction with another hair loss treatment that specialises in regrowth of hair. Rogaine is commonly used in conjunction with Propecia, a hair loss treatment that has proven to be more effective at regrowing hair.
