Rogaine & Its Effect on Baldness
Rogaine is the brand name for the generic medicine minoxidil. This drug was made initially for a medication to reduce blood pressure. But, during the initial period, some people experienced a partial growth of hair while taking this medication as a remedy to high blood pressure. Since then, Rogaine became a popular medication in male pattern baldness. It is now available world wide, and also known as Rogaine. It was a bit expensive medicine earlier, now it is sold at affordable rate. It is claimed that 4 month of proper use of the medication can sure the hair loss problem.
Rogaine is available in solution form of different concentration in chemist shops. 2% minoxidil solution is used for both male and female, and 5% minoxidil (Rogaine extra strength) is used by men only having severe male pattern baldness. This solution is applied to the scalp daily to prevent hair loss. Now, this medicine is also available in foam and it is quite easy to apply.
But this hair loss medication has some associated side effects also. It is observed that, initial use of minoxidil can cause increase in hair loss. Itching in scalp and dandruff are two most common side effects. Low blood pressure, headache, lightheadedness, fast pace hear beat, chest pain, hair growth in unwanted areas, acne to the applied areas are some other associated side effects. Another matter for concern is that, this medicine can be transferred to a child from his mother via breast milk. It is also observed that, if a person stops using Rogaine after a considerable period of time, hair loss may happen again. All of these side effects may happen due to inappropriate use of this medicine. Excessive use of Rogaine is not allowed for patients with high blood pressure.
According to clinical research, Rogaine is not a medication to increase the amount of hair follicles. This is a medication which is better to use in conjunction with any conventional drug to prevent hair loss. This medicine just stops the hair loss ratio in scalp area, though in some rare cases people experience slight amount of re growth in hair. This medicine does not have any effect on production of new hair. It just delays the death of hair follicles.
It is always recommended to use Rogaine after consulting with a physician. All of these above mentioned side effects are caused due to excessive use of the medicine. Some people may not experience any kind of improvement as they are using it excessively getting adept to it. So, it is always advised to use this medicine in an appropriate proposition. Some people may feel dizziness feeling while using the medicine after expiry date.
Rogaine is not a very old medication; hence extensive research report is still not available. Though, some side effects are there, they are quite irregular in nature, so this medicine can be used, though is safe proportion regularly. All of these side effects are curable using proper remedies expect acne. So, Rogaine can be used as an effective hair maintenance tool that slow down the process of hair loss.
